Canada : RES Canada, Boralex wins contract from IESO for 50-MW of wind power in Ontario
Publish Date : 12-Mar-2016
Renewable Energy Systems Canada Inc (RES) and Boralex Inc have won a contract from the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).
This contract awarded as part of the Large Renewable Procurement Request for Proposals (LRP I RFP) process is for the 50-MW Otter Creek wind project in Ontario.
This project involves development of a wind park on private lands in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
Completion of work is expected by the end of 2019.
At present, RES Canada has control of the scheme with a stake of 51%, and Boralex holds a 38.5% interest, and the balance 10.5% is owned by the Walpole Island First Nation.
Once the wind park becomes commercially operational, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent has an option to purchase around 15% of the limited partnership interests.
