Open tender has saved 30% of the initial cost on repair of Lviv-Ivano-Frankivsk highway: "There was competition, there were different applications. And those who won this tender have built the good and much cheaper highway," said Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk on Friday, March 11, Ivano-Frankivsk, during his visit to the repaired Lviv - Ivano-Frankivsk road.

"Each object will undergo the same procedure, as the new system of public procurement ProZorro will operate from April 1, and all these billions of costs will go through a transparent mechanism allowing companies able to build roads to construct them for Ukraine," he stressed.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded that he had offered the so-called customs experiment to spend 50% from extra revenues from the four customs - in Lviv, Chernivtsi, Volyn and Odesa regions- on the construction and repair of roads. Thus, Arseniy Yatsenyuk underlined, these regions can allocate about a billion hryvnia for the construction and reconstruction of roads.

The Prime Minister appealed to the local authorities of the four regions able to benefit from the experiment: "The less corruption at customs, the more de-shadowing and the more transparent rules will be at the customs, the more money you will earn and invest the money directly into repair and reconstruction of roads."

"This year, the four regions have already started to work together in order to repair the roads," he stressed.

The Prime Minister stressed that arepaired highway "means not only to get to your destination faster and safer, not only to make savings on fuel and car repair:"A road means first of all jobs, taxes, infrastructure, as well as an opportunity for people to earn and opportunity for the country to develop."

Arseniy Yatsenyuk also recalled that local budgets had received additional resources due to fiscal decentralization carried out by the Government. The Prime Minister urged the local government to spend money directly on what is relevant to the economic growth - jobs, salaries, pensions, taxes, normal roads in the country.
