South Africa : BioTherm Energy emerges as a preferred bidder for four wind and solar projects totalling 284MW

Independent power producer BioTherm Energy, backed by energy and commodities private equity firm Denham Capital, has emerged as a preferred bidder for four wind and solar projects totalling 284MW in the fourth round of South Africas renewable energy IPP procurement program.

The company has announced its plans to continue participating in the REIPPP program. It has even submitted bid for several projects into an expedited bid window that has been established for projects unsuccessful in the first four rounds.

At present, BioTherm operates 49MW of wind and solar projects in South Africa.

BioTherm Energy chief executive officer Jasandra Nyker said, Having already brought our Round I wind and solar assets online, BioTherm Energy will continue to set itself apart as a leading local player.

We are looking to start construction of the Round Four assets as soon as financial close is achieved. In addition, BioTherm is waiting to hear on the expedited window.
