Publish Date : 17-Mar-2016

The Philippine Air Force has set aside P68.9 million for the procurement of spare parts required to maintain its new AgustaWestland AW-109E "Power" attack helicopters.

The sanctioned amount is covered by two deals to procure spare parts for the 8 aircraft that the Air Force acquired last year.

A bid invitation has seen a total of P68,928,376.65 being assigned for the projects P31,420,483.32 for Lot 1, and P37,507,893.33 for Lot 2.

In 2015, the Air Force acquired 8 of the attack helicopters from Anglo-Italian company AgustaWestland for P3.4 billion.

The first two AW-109E helicopters were commissioned in August last year while the remaining 6 were delivered and entered into the Air Force' fleet in December last year.
