Italy,Philippines,United Kingdom : AFP requests bids for two separate orders for spare parts worth P70m
Publish Date : 30-Mar-2016
The Philippine military has announced nearly P70 million worth of two separate contracts intended for the supply and delivery of spare parts for its fleet of choppers.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has made a pair of bid invitations, comprising a contract worth P37.5 million and another for the spare parts supply for its Anglo-Italian-built Augusta Westland AW-109 helicopter fleet worth P31.42 million.
The Augusta Westland AW-109 fleet is among the numerous helicopter variants being used and maintained by the Philippine defence forces now.
The AFP has opened the tender for the qualified local and global contractors, having experience in such projects for a minimum of five years.
Interested parties will have to pay P25,000 each for the bid documents of the two contracts, with the closing date for the submission set on Thursday, March 31, 2016.
On this day, the Philippine Air Force will also open the bid papers at the Procurement Center Conference Room in Villamor Air Base.
The national defence forces fleet has not less than eight Augusta Westland choppers, which the country bought in 2015.
The Philippine military normally deploys the AW-109s for maritime air surveillance and as support for their amphibious vehicles.
The aircraft, equipped with .50 caliber machine guns and 2.75 inch rockets as well as weather search radar and futuristic infrared systems, are operated for humanitarian and disaster relief operations as well.
