Oman : Tender for 200 MW of solar capacity in Adam and Manah expected this year
Publish Date : 31-Mar-2016
During this year, a tender for 200 MW of solar capacity in Adam and Manah is expected.
The plan includes using a tendering procedure similar to that for conventional power plants.
The large-scale solar parks will be developed under the Independent Power Project (IPP) model, which will include a possible combination of concentrated solar power (CSP) and photovoltaics (PV).
Supporting future development, solar radiation data has been collected since 2010, for Adam and Manah, under the supervision of Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWPC).
Additionally, Oman is working on a plan to promote small-scale solar development.
The Authority for Electricity Regulation Oman (AER) is preparing minimum technical standards for rooftop solar and metering terms for the payments homeowners would receive for feeding solar power to the grid.
