The Indian Air Force has developed a 10-year modernization plan identifying technologies and services that it needs and will soon share it with the private sector.

However, just 10-15% of the more than Rs 2.5 lakh crore projected procurement would be from local manufacturers.

The plan is to share details of its needs from aircraft tyres to rotor blades and 3D printing technology, with specific quantities required over 10 years to allow private sector players to establish production plants and replace imports.

Set to be released at a CII event on Tuesday, the Indigenisation Roadmap (2016-2025) also lists out 174 parts from subsystems for Jaguar fighter aircraft to parts and spares for the An 32 transport fleet that should be indigenised.

The strategy, says the idea of indigenisation is being transformed from being reliant on public sector units to participative cooperation with Indian sector.
