United Arab Emirates : Phanes receives tender for phase I of up-to 40 MWp rooftop PV system in Dubai
Publish Date : 22-Apr-2016
Dubai-headquartered solar developer Phanes Group is in receipt of a tender for construction of the first phase of Emirati port operator DP World Ltds planned rooftop solar system, which will be featuring an installed capacity of between 30 MWp and 40 MWp.
The company emerged as the winner in the project tender and inked an agreement though its unit Green Energy Tomorrow -- a regionally-focused rooftop solar specialist.
Following completion, the distributed generation (DG) photovoltaic (PV) installation will emerge as the largest rooftop solar development in the Middle East.
DP World plans to install solar panels on the rooftops of buildings and parking sheds in Dubais Jebel Ali free zone. The project is said to be in accordance with Dubai's goal to reduce energy demand by 30% through 2030 and to diversify its energy mix.
Phanes Group is 30%-owned by General Energy Solutions (GES), which is a division of Taiwanese firm Neo Solar Power Corp, or NSP.
Over a period of next couple of years, the Dubai-based solar firm expects to install 500 MW of PV capacity across the UK, the Dominican Republic, the UAE, Chile and South Africa.
