The Kejriwal-led Delhi Government has decided to procure 3,000 new buses to upgrade public transportation network in the national capital, reflecting its first procurement since it assumed the helms of Delhi in February 2015.
As per plan, these buses will join the citys public bus fleet in the current year.
The Delhi Government has planned to operate 1,000 buses under the cluster system from late this month. Apart from this, the AAP Government has decided to deploy 1,000 new DTC low-floor buses from this August.
Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai has explained that 2 buses out of the 1,000 cluster buses will be pressed into service from the last week of April and these buses will operate under cluster scheme, which is under the management of the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System Ltd (DIMTS).
The State Government has already confirmed that it is essential to expand the public transportation system prior to permanent implementation of the odd-even scheme for the Delhities.
City Transport Minister Gopal Rai revealed, Apart from cluster buses, 1,000 new DTC buses will start operating on the capitals roads from August following which people will be benefited,
The Delhi Government on Friday has made an announcement on starting a premium bus service in order to serve the residents.
As per plans, commuters will have opportunity to reserve their seats in advance by using their smartphones like the existing taxi services in Delhi based on app.
According to the Transport Minister, the Delhi Government hopes for 1,000 air-conditioned buses, while the new fleet is expected by the year end.
Similar to Ola and Uber, bus aggregators will have their own apps, with approval to settle on their fares. However, the State Government has emphasized that it will make need-based intervention, and will set the limit of fares or adopt measures to control any irrational pricing.
