Publish Date : 10-May-2016

In order ease the risk of water shortages in Metro Manila, CMC di Ravenna will design and build a new water tunnel from Angat dam.

Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) has offered a contract to the Italian firm that submitted the lowest bid of P3.29 billion.

The state agency had earlier announced the bid of China Railway Group Ltd. of about P3.60 billion and McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd. at P3.89 billion.

MWSS Administrator Gerardo A.I. Esquivel, said,"The financials show that the Italian company was not only responsive but also [gave] the lowest [bid]."

He addded that financial documents from the bidders were opened over a month ago in front of the bidding contractors, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Commission of Audit, and these were posted at the same time.

MWSS noted that the decision was made after assessment of the 3 pre-qualified bidders. It added that the results were approved by the ADB, which is offering the funds through a $123.3-million loan.
