India : BHEL receives Rs 1600 crore contract to set up a 250-mw thermal power plant in Odisha

State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has secured a contract for establishment of a 250-mw thermal power plant in Odisha.
A joint venture between NTPC and Steel Authority of India, NTPC-SAIL Power Company, has placed this order.
As per the contract, the coal-based thermal unit is to be established at Rourkela power project on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis.
Earlier, BHEL had executed the coal-based 2x250 mw Bhilai expansion power plant for the company.
For this project, BHEL's scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of the thermal power plant.
Production of the required key equipment for the contract will be carried out at BHEL's Trichy, Haridwar, Bhopal, Ranipet, Hyderabad, Jhansi, Thirumayam and Bengaluru plants, while the company's power sector division shall take up civil works and will also be responsible for commissioning of the equipment.
