India : State Govt. urged to hike purchase price of milk

Publish Date : 14-Jun-2016

The Tamil Nadu Milk Producers' Welfare Association has asked the State Government to increase the purchase price of milk by Rs. 4 a litre for cows milk and Rs. 8 per litre for buffalo's milk.

A resolution towards this end was passed at its state executive committee meeting held on Saturday.

President of the TNMPWA, K. A. Sengottuvelu, who chaired the meeting, said the government increased the procurement price of milk way back in November 2014.

Since then, the price of cattle feed and other inputs and wages of workers had grown manifold. A reasonable hike in the milk price alone will help dairy farmers make both ends meet.
