Publish Date : 18-Jun-2016

Italian renewables firm TerniEnergia SpA has secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a 34-MWp solar project in Zambia. This contract is worth USD 8 million (EUR 7.2m).

According to TerniEnergia, it will be constructing the plant on behalf of an Italian utility whose identity was not revealed.

Earlier, Enel SpA had announced that it has won a 28-MW project, 34 MW in direct current (DC), in a tender launched by the Industrial Development Corporation of Zambia Ltd (IDC) under the World Banks Scaling Solar programme.

Under the contract, the company will have to install the photovoltaic (PV) facility in the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone. It will be responsible for the EPC activities and will not be tasked with the supply of inverters, trackers and PV modules.

Enel had earlier announced to invest around USD 40 million in the project it won with a bid of USD 0.0784/kWh.
