Publish Date : 21-Jun-2016
The Federal Government has so far trained at least 8,500 procurement officers through the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).
The training was aimed at building the institutional capacity of officers of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government to execute procurement reforms.
The Interim Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Ekanem, said this on the sideline of the opening of a two-week Procurement Cadre Conversion Training for about 230 procurement officers in the federal public service, at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Badagry, Lagos.
Speaking through a Permanent Secretary, Mr. Innocent Ogbonnaya, she said the about 8,500 officers who have received the training so far have brought new knowledge and skill to bear on the collective performance of the federal public service.
She added, "We are satisfied with the extent to which these efforts have made service-wide impacts; procurements are now undertaken by professionals exposed to best global practice. They are being nurtured with regular training from both the Bureau and institutions across the world."
