In a bid to help the city of Benares (also called Kashi) become a 'Smart City', Varanasi Municipal Corporation (VMC) has inked 87 memorandum of understanding (MoUs) with different departments, universities, MNCs, associations and prominent artists so far.
In order to seek expertise and help in technical as well as other areas significant to develop a 'Smart City,', a total of 87 agreements have been signed.
The MoUs will see these departments and associations sharing ideas with VMC on how to make Kashi smart and tech-savvy in education, transportation, healthcare, infrastructure and hospitality.
The VMC has entered 32 MoUs with departments, 19 companies (including MNCs), four universities (BHU, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith and Central University for Tibetan Studies), 12 associations, 10 organizations to help under corporate social responsibility (CSR) and 10 prominent artists of Benaras Gharana.
