Publish Date : 22-Jun-2016
Sanjay Das Burma, the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare (FS&CW) Minister of the Government of Odisha, today has announced that the State Government will extend the Paddy Procurement Automation System (PPAS) to another 134 blocks of Odisha.
The Minister added, We have decided to roll out the PPAS system in 134 blocks and ensure that they become functional on time. The district collectors have specifically been advised on this context. The farmers of these blocks will receive cent percent of their dues online.
Interacting with the media on the sidelines of the Collectors Conference taking place at the Secretariat, Mr. Das Burma has made these revelations.
The State Government launched the system for the first time in the Kharif season of FY2014-15 covering 60 blocks. It then decided to extend the PPAS to another 100 blocks in last June, increasing the PPAS coverage to 160 blocks in Odisha.
Das Burma, during a press meet held to brief on the advancement on the National Food Security Act execution, has revealed that collectors involving a number of districts are yet to complete verification of around 3.42 lakh applications. The Government has fixed a deadline to verify these applications by the next two-month period.
He added, We are working out on a strategy to remove the ineligible holders of NFSA card from the rolls within a stipulated time frame and ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left behind. The Chief Minister is also emphasizing on this.
The Minister has added that the State Government has decided to discontinue paddy procurement for the Rabi season from next month.
He added, We have taken a decision to stop the paddy procurement for the Rabi season after June 30. I urge the farmers, who are still planning to sell their paddy, to register before June 25.
