Publish Date : 08-Jul-2016
The entire stretch of the Zuari bridge from Siridao to Verna will be constructed by Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL), a leading engineering procurement construction (EPC) company.
Officials in the Public Works Department said that DBL, which had bagged the first phase of the project for Rs 900 cr (including the main bridge) in March 2016, has also bagged the other two phases from Cortalim to Verna and Siridao to the bridge.
PWD Principal Chief Engineer Ulhas Parsekar said that the tenders were opened by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways last month.
Dilip Buildcon has teamed up with a Ukrainian-based company, Mostobudivelnyi Zahin Limited (MBZ), with a 70% and 30% stake, to build the cable-stayed bridge. MBZ has know-how in construction of cable suspension bridges and will be the technical partner to Dilip Buildcon for the project.
Devendra Jain, Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer, Dilip Buildcon Ltd said, This is our first project in Goa and we are extremely glad to have bagged this prestigious project and hope that we are able to complete the project before time. With this, we are now present in 12 states across India.
Parsekar said that the work orders for all three phases have been awarded by MoRTH and the contractors have begun work. He said, The contractors have started work on designs for the bridge and approaches, besides soil testing has also begun.
Parsekar said that initial mobilisation has also been started and work is expected to start within the next 2-3 months. He said, Once the work begins it should be completed in 36 months.
