Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), the countrys largest dairy industry player famous as Amul, has accomplished the signing of an agreement with the technology experts Infibeam Inc for the creation of e-commerce and mobile platforms for the products of the top dairy brand of India.
The Indian dairy giant has announced that it will be ready to launch its own e-commerce platform over the next few months.
The Amul MD RS Sodhi revealed, "All Amul products including fresh milk, curd, butter, cheese etc. will be sold through our exclusive e-commerce platform and delivered to our customers' door steps."
At first, GCMMF will roll out its online platform at Ahmedabad in Gujarat, with plans to launch the offering based on the city-by-city model.
The company now offers its products online through a few third party e-retailers. However, Amul will be offering its products through an exclusive e-commerce portal for the first time once it launches its digital platform.
The company is now actively involved to expand its business significantly.
GCMMF, in a bid to achieve its ambitious "rapid" growth strategy, has been making aggressive investments to increase its production capacities over the next half-decade period.
The group eyes INR300bn (US$4.5bn) in revenues by the next financial year (FY2017-18).
GCMMF has disclosed that the company is increasing the amount of its milk procurement and expanding into new markets in India to expand its pan-India sales network to achieve the planned expansion of business.
