Publish Date : 06-Aug-2016
Fluor Corporation, an American multinational engineering and construction firm announced has secured an US$501 million engineering, procurement and construction management contract for Compagnie des Bauxites de Guines (CBG) Bauxite Production Expansion Project in Kamsar, Guinea.
The expansion project will see the production increased by four million metric tons per annum, or from 14.5 million metric tons to 18.5 million metric tons.
Earlier, Fluors carried out the feasibility studies on the project as well as some of the initial engineering at the site. The expansion would be completed in 2018.
President of Fluors Mining & Metals business Rick Koumouris said: Fluor has worked with CBG to develop a capital-efficient solution that combines delivery predictability and flexibility for maintenance and future expansions. Given the projects location and unique logistical challenges, Fluor will bring unmatched technical and execution expertise, as well as the requisite Guinea experience, to deliver this project safely, on schedule and on budget.
CBG holds exclusive rights to bauxite reserves and resources in north-western Guinea through 2038.
