Poland,United States : Lockheed Martin wins Navy Aegis Ashore installation support contract
Publish Date : 16-Aug-2016
Lockheed Martin has secured a potential $36.4 million contract from the Missile Defense Agency.
This contract is to integrate, test and install the Aegis Ashore platform onboard a deckhouse and support facility.
The Defense Department said, the fixed-price-incentive contract was awarded by MDA following a competitive procurement process and will obligate the full contract amount from fiscal 2015 defense procurement funds at the time of award. Lockheed will carry out work in Poland through Dec. 31, 2018.
Aegis Ashore serves as the ground-based component of Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System which works to counter short- and intermediate-range ballistic missile threats.
In 2018, MDA will be deploying the Aegis Ashore platform in Poland under the third phase of the Phased Adaptive Approach that seeks to support ballistic missile defense efforts in Northern Europe.
