France : VALLOUREC secures order for 1,500 metric tonnes of pipe

Publish Date : 06-Sep-2016

Vallourec, a French pipemaker has bagged an order from Indian engineering company Larsen & Toubro, Kallanish Energys sister company, Kallanish to supply 1,500 metric tonnes of pipe made from P92 steel for the first ultra-supercritical power plant to be built in India.

The new power plant has two units with a capacity of 660 megawatts (MW) each.

The plant will be put up on an engineering, procurement and construction management basis by Larsen & Toubro in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, central India.

The company plans to become one the biggest power producers globally with 128,000 MW of power generation capacity by 2032, up from current installed capacity of 47,000 MW, according to Vallourec.

The pipemaker said: Ultra-supercritical power plants are superior to conventional technologies in that they emit significantly less carbon dioxide for the same capacity thanks to their higher steam parameters (pressure and temperature) which, in turn, require special materials compatible with these conditions.
