The Singaporean Government makes sustained efforts to promote infrastructure ties with the Chinese business enterprises.

There has been signing of 5 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) on Monday (Sept. 19, 2016) and these pacts have been signed between the Chinese banking giant ICBC and Singaporean companies including SGX, SBF and Surbana Jurong.

The Trade & Industry Minister (Trade) Mr. Lim Hng Kiang has stated that growth outlook for the ASEAN region, with its increasing middle-class and fast urbanization process, continues to be intense.

The Minister has made this statement during his speech at the "Belt and Road" Infrastructure Cooperation and Financing Forum arranged by ICBC.

He has stressed that Singapore is fully equipped to facilitate exploitation of these business avenues as a center for infrastructure development and financing.

Mr. Lim added, "Singapore and Chinese companies can build on existing strong relationships to foster partnerships and tap infrastructure opportunities in ASEAN and beyond."

He further said, "Singapore companies possess good track record and expertise across the infrastructure value chain. This includes expertise in master-planning, engineering design, procurement, construction and operations."
