ALIX RESOURCES CORP. is pleased to report significant milestones achieved on its Tecolote concession, Electra Project located in Sonora, Mexico. The Company has previously confirmed a target sedimentary assemblage with the potential of hosting economic lithium-bearing, clay-rich horizons.
The exploration target on the Companys Tecolote concession is lithium-bearing, clay-rich horizons similar to the adjoining Buenavista concession owned by Bacanora Minerals Ltd. (BCN-TSX:V) and Rare Earth Minerals PLC (REM-LON)) (BCN PR 2016-01-06), where reverse circulation drilling has discovered clay-rich layers in a sedimentary sequence over an area of 6 by 1.25 km (BCN PR, 2014-11-03).
The Company has identified two target areas on the Tecolote concession interpreted to be underlain by sedimentary sequence favorable for lithium mineralization. The first target, the eastern area, is approximately 1,100 m long by 250 to 400 m wide. The second target area is located east is 700 m SW of the first target and measures roughly 400 by 150 m.
The Company has proposed a Phase 1 reverse-circulation (RC) drill program to test the two target areas, and have recently received approval and authorization from the "Ejido" (community) regarding surface (owner/co-op) rights. The Company has also received receipt of an application for the environmental permit on the Tecolote concession, to complete up to 25 RC drill holes and rehabilitation of existing roads as needed.
The Companys geologists are currently reviewing RC drill bids and scheduling activities related to the Phase 1 drill program, and the Company is in consultation with its Joint Venture (and funding) partner, Lithium Australia. Mike England, president of Alix, stated: "We are very pleased to have both community support and environmental permits in hand to allow us to initiate a maiden Phase 1 RC drill program on the Tecolote concession, with the support of our partners, Lithium Australia. The drill program will include a series of shallow drill holes in the recognized sedimentary assemblage and also in some alluvium-covered areas. The objective is to discover lithium-rich clay layers similar to that of the Bacanora/REM Buenavista deposit."
Adrian Griffin of Lithium Australia commented: The significant opportunity afforded by near-surface mineralization of this type is of great importance to our global exploration efforts. We had no hesitation supporting the Alix exploration plan and look forward to a successful outcome. The technical contents of this release were approved by Michel Boily, PhD, P.Geo a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. The properties have not been the subject of a National Instrument 43-101 report. The Company further announces the resignation of David Lajack from its Board of Directors. Mr. Lajack will stay involved with the Company on its Advisory Board.
