United States : SES' arm wins managed services contract to support Broadcasting Board of Governors; BBG employs new model to procure COMSAT
Publish Date : 16-Nov-2016
SES S.A. has announced that a 100% subsidiary, SES Government Solutions (SES GS), has won a managed services contract to support the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG).
The deal for these SES GS managed services includes a 1-year base period, with 4 one-year option periods for a total value of around USD 15 million over the performance period.
The service will help the Broadcasting Board of Governors broadcast US Government civilian content across the world through SES satellites.
The single Firm-Fixed-Price Task Order will service some of the currrent BBG's satellite capacity needs.
SES GS, which will offer high quality satellite solutions, has the agility to reach BBG's distribution hubs, news bureaus, and global audiences through satellite and terrestrial connectivity.
This new deal has seen the BBG employing a new model for the procurement of COMSAT as a managed service, which efficiently obviates having several disparate contracts for each part of their broadcasting infrastructure.
The deal was implemented using the US Government's Custom COMSAT Solutions (CS2) contract vehicle, allowing federal agencies to develop large, complex, custom end-to-end satellite solutions.
Pete Hoene, President and CEO of SES GS, said, "This type of innovative buying practice serves as an example of how agencies can benefit from cost savings while addressing their SATCOM needs. We are proud to support the BBG using SESs cost-effective, reliable, scalable and secure global network, which is optimized for high definition audio and video broadcast programming."
