Australia : NT Government Welcomes INPEX Multi-Million Local Contract

Publish Date : 21-Nov-2016

Chief Minister Michael Gunner today welcomed the announcement that the INPEX-led Ichthys Project had awarded a multi-million contract to support the operational phase of the Project to a Darwin business.

The three-year contract to deliver general facilities maintenance at the onshore processing facility was awarded to Berrimah business RAM Services.
Mr Gunner said the awarding of the contract followed the signing of two agreements in Japan last month between INPEX and NT Government to support local jobs and economic growth during the Projects operational phase.

Creating more Territory jobs to build confidence in our economy is a priority of this Government, and I am buoyed by this announcement that long-time Darwin business RAM Services will carry out the three-year contract, Mr Gunner said.

The contract will enable the business to employ an additional 10 staff but also creates a number of opportunities for local sub-contractors. When I met with Representative Director, CEO President of INPEX, Mr Toshiaki Kitamura, in Japan last month, INPEX and the NT Government signed Industry Participation and Optional Development Lease agreements.

The awarding of this contract which includes plumbing, painting and landscaping shows Darwin business has the capability to support this large-scale project during the plants operations.

During the construction phase, more than 1,000 Territory businesses have secured work on the project. More than $9 billion in contracts, procurement and overhead commitments have been made within the Northern Territory.
