Kuwait,Qatar,United States : Boeing secures 2 major combat aircraft deal from Qatar and Kuwait

Boeing has won two major contracts from Middle East for its fourth generation fighter jets through U.S. governments Foreign Military Sale.

Kuwait has placed an order for 32 F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter jets to replace its ageing F/A-18C acquired in the 1990s after Gulf War. This fleet will complement the 28 Eurofighter Typhoons which were ordered earlier in 2015. Cost of the deal which even covers support, equipment, and training, is estimated at $10.1 billion.

Qatar is to procure 72 F-15QA fighter jets aiming at strengthening its Air Force which at present operates only five Mirage 2000 fighters. Cost of the deal which also covers weapons and related support, equipment, and training is estimated at $21.1 billion.

Additionally, the deal include provision for continental United States based Lead-in-Fighter-Training for the F-15QA.

Earlier in 2015, Qatar had placed an order for 24 Dassault Rafale fighter jet to replace the Mirage 2000.
