United States : County Commission agrees to upgrade Lincoln County's fingerprint system

Publish Date : 06-Dec-2016

The county commission has agreed to upgrade the fingerprint system at the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department.

The item was initially discussed at the Oct. 17 meeting.

Sheriff Kerry Lee said due to a lack of grant funding available from the state, Lincoln County will have pay to upgrade the system itself.

Lee said, "We had a choice of going back to paper fingerprints, which would not link up with our electronic court records, or the newer machine."

He said he later was able to get the firm that services the current fingerprinting system to honor an initial bid for new equipment.

He added, "At first, our bid was rejected, but later the company decided to honor it, $18,819, that includes the machine, the printer and one year of service."
