Egypt : Ministry agrees with four firms to supply 1m pre-paid electricity metres
Publish Date : 21-Dec-2016
The Ministry of Electricity has contracted with four firms to provide 1m pre-paid electricity metres.
A full-time member of the firms' distribution affairs, said an agreement has been reached with El Sewedy Electrometer, Iskraemeco, Globaltronics, and Maasara to supply 1m electricity metres.
This was announced after their technical and financial bids were examined.
Each firm will receive a part of the supply of the million metres. Official letters were issued to all companies, where the supply process will take place in the following week.
Metres that are prepaid allow to monitor and rationalize consumption, where the metres monitor shows all the data regarding the balance credit (kw/hour), and its value in pounds, as well as the days remaining with credit.
A possibility also exists of recognising the users power consumption category. A button on the monitor can also show the contracting capacity.
The prepayment metre will remove the metre-reading issues faced by many people, as it uses smart cards and prevents theft of electricity, as well as providing massive amounts of fuel used in producing electrical energy.
