Publish Date : 22-Dec-2016
Lockheed Martin has secured a $181.2 million deal from the Naval Air Systems Command to provide logistic services for its F-35 Lightning II aircraft.
With operations in Santa Barbara, the aerospace and defense firm will conduct ground maintenance, supply chain management, pilot and maintainer training and support and other activities.
Under the deal, the Air Force, Marine Corps, foreign military sales customers and other participants also bought goods from the company. Out of the 2,443 F-35 fighter jets aimed for production, Lockheed said it would deliver a total of 53 for this year. The product comprises over 20% of the firm's sales.
With some work being done in California, Florida, South Carolina and the United Kingdom, bulk of the work outlined in the deal will be completed at the company's Texas facilities.
