United Kingdom : Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust secures new children's nursing contract

Publish Date : 07-Jan-2017

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust has won a contract to offer the new 0-19 public health community nursing service for families in West Sussex.

The trust, which is the current provider of the area's healthy child programme health visiting, school nursing and family nurse partnership has been offered the new contract for 5 years.

The contract, which has been announced after a competitive procurement run by West Sussex County Council, will start on 1st April. The trust also has an option for a further 2 years.

The new contract, similar to moves to join up services nationally, comes after the handover of public health commissioning responsibilities for children aged below 5 years from the NHS to local authorities in 2015.

The trust said, the West Sussex plan will generate a more integrated service, bringing together health visiting, school nurses, and early help and prevention services into a single model.
