Nigeria : NNPC receives bids from 50 firms for boat supply

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC has announced bids from 50 firms to supply sea worthy tug boats on charter basis.

In a statement by its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Ndu Ughamadu, NNPC, said the vessels would meet the maritime operational requirements of the NNPC in Lagos, Warri and Port Harcourt.

According to the spokesman, representatives of the bidding firms nd officials of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) were present, at the public opening of the bids at the NNPC base.

Other state agencies represented included the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR; Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, NEITI; Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB; and some members of the civil society as observers.

He said that successful firms would be involved on a 2-year term contract in the first instance with an option of renewal for a further 1 year.

Mr. Ughamadu said winners are expected to offer services including: aiding the berth and un-berth of all ships operating at the NNPC jetties.

They will also provide logistics support for safe ship-to-ship operations covering movement of fenders, horses, documents, rigging and unrigging of fenders among other services.

NNPC' Group General Manager, Supply Chain Management, Shehu Liman, said NNPC management will instil and sustain "the values of transparency, accountability and integrity in the procurement process."
