A South Portland provider of corporate payment solutions, WEX Inc., has won a five-year IT Schedule 70 contract with the U.S. General Services Administration, the procurement arm of the federal government.

As per GSA's website, design of the GSA's IT Schedule 70 program aims at helping federal, state and local customer agencies find "the tools and expertise needed to shorten procurement cycles, ensure compliance, and obtain the best value for innovative technology products, services and solutions.

With this agreement, federal customers will get to buy WEX telematics solutions through a standardized procurement process, thereby streamlining access to tools to maximize fleet performance, minimise costs and risks, enhance customer service and become greener.

Bernie Kavanagh, senior vice president and general manager of North America large fleet and strategic relationships at WEX said, "WEX has been serving the needs of government fleets for decades, and it is an honor to be recognized as an approved vendor of telematics solutions for the federal government and its agencies. Coupled with our proprietary technology and award-winning customer service, we look forward to giving government officials access to data-driven insights, which will enable them to make more informed business decisions."

The GSA IT Schedule 70 award is the culmination of a rigorous process where in the GSA cautiously evaluates companies to determine their proficiency and suitability for providing products and/or services to the federal government.
