The Armenian Government is getting ready to make a tender announcement to develop solar energy facility close to the Masrik village in Gegharkunik Province of the country.
The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Foundation Director Tamara Babayan has disclosed that they have received interests from all of the 40 companies, which have taken part at a recently held event, for participating in the upcoming tender procedure for the construction of a 40-50 MW solar plant.
The Energy Week 2017 has been organized in Yerevan last month.
Armenias planned solar power project is the key part of a six-year program worth US$58 million, which was launched in the year 2015, in order to improve alternative sources of energy in the country.
The program is under the management of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Foundation.
The Foundation, is a non-governmental organization, is focused on ascertaining investments in the Armenian energy efficiency and renewable energy space.
The Climate Investment Funds, the Washington-headquartered World Bank, as well as the Manila-headquartered Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Energy & Natural Resources Ministry of Armenia are the promoters of this Foundation.
Armenia on Wednesday has announced in a media statement that it plans to begin construction work on the project this year and start its operations within the year 2020.
Once operational, the solar energy plant will become the first such facility in Armenia.
