Leading global defense contractor BAE Systems has been successful to secure a contract for the manufacturing of transmitter countermeasures for the F-35 joint strike fighter.

The US Department of Defense (DoD) has issued a media statement Monday to make announcement on this contract award.

BAE Systems, as part of the newly awarded DoD contract worth almost $64 million, will be responsible for manufacturing the transmitter countermeasures for the US Air Force air expendable countermeasures program for the F-35 combat aircraft and comprises sales to overseas armed forces.

The statement added, "BAE Systems Information and Electronic System Integration Inc., Nashua, New Hampshire, is being awarded $63,969,918 for the new manufacture of transmitter T-1687/ALE-70(V) countermeasures for the Advanced Tactical Aircraft Protection Systems Program Office, Air Expendable Countermeasures Program.

BAE Systems has enlightened that the project unites procurements for the US Air Force, as well as for the Australian, Israeli and Norwegian forces under the Foreign Military Sales program.

The T-1687/ALE-70(V), a countermeasures dispenser system, is intended to feature in the three F-35 Joint Strike Fighter variants and is offered for export F-35 partners across the globe.

The defence giant will carry out the contractual work in the US State of New Hampshire and will accomplish the job December next year, added the media statement of the DoD.
