Publish Date : 15-May-2017
Brazil's western state of Bahia has released a public private partnership (PPP) tender for a light rail project in the coastal city of Salvador.
The schemes requires to build an 18.5km-long system and run it for a 30-year concession period.
The Bahia Ministry of Urban Development wants the line to have a maximum speed of 70km/h, and expects about 93,000 people to use it daily.
The project's total investment would be around $470m. The contract's term will extend for 30 years.
Nearly 14km of the line will use a current rail system, overhauled and changed to standard gauge.
The line will have a total of 20 trains to give a service interval of 10 minutes at its 21 stations.
