United States : Governor announced a $2.6m loan for Country Visions Cooperative for freight-rail project
Publish Date : 16-May-2017
Scott Walker, the Governor of the Wisconsin State, on Thursday has made an announcement on the offering of a $2.6 million worth of loan for Country Visions Cooperative to build almost 3,000 feet of railroad spur and a rail-car unloading system, which forms a component of an $11 million plan for a new dry fertilizer facility at Plymouth in Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has announced in a media statement that the Freight Railroad Infrastructure Improvement loan forms a part of a revolving loan scheme, which is intended for upgrading of rail infrastructure and setting up of new facilities related to the rail services.
According to the WisDOT officials, Country Visions Cooperative has embarked on a strategy to change its dry fertilizer operations involving a number of sites in the eastern Wisconsin to transport by rail to ensure well-timed delivery of dry fertilizers to farms in support of their spring season based plantation process.
The Wisconsin & Southern Railroad will provide service to the new dry fertilizer plant in Plymouth all along the Plymouth-Sheboygan Falls track, reconstruction of which has been recently carried out with a WisDOT grant.
The WisDOT has awarded this money under the Freight Rail Preservation Program, which caters for as much as 80% of the project costs intended for the maintenance of freight-rail service or rehabilitation of track on the publicly-owned rail lines.
