The World Bank Board of Executive Directors has approved the third additional financing of $59 million to Mozambiques Education Sector Support Project (ESSP).

This international credit supports the ESSP goals of enhancing access to quality and equity of education in Mozambique, said the World Bank.

The funds will be channeled through the Education Sector Support Fund, which gets financial contributions from nine donors supporting the implementation of the countrys 2016-2019 Education Strategic Plan.

Mark Lundell, World Bank Country Director for Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, and Comoros said, Im pleased with the approval of this Additional Financing (AF) in times of acute fiscal distress.

This will help in offering much-needed assistance and ensure the continuation and delivery of key education services, mainly including the most vulnerable who tend to bear the brunt during crises, he added.
