Germany,Saudi Arabia,Singapore,Turkey : RIYADH: Government selected contractors to develop five airport projects in the country
Publish Date : 13-Jun-2017
The Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is reportedly granted contracts for the establishment of five airports in the country.
The airport project contracts have been secured by leading regional and global companies, including Singaporean Changi Airports International (CAI).
The contract to manage the new King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah for a period of 20 years has already been granted by the Saudi Government to the Singapore-based company.
The Saudi Arabian Transport Minister Sulaiman Al Hamdan, who also serves the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) as its Chairman, has revealed that they have inked a deal with Asyad Holding Group for the development and management of the new Taif International Airport.
As part of this contract, the Group will set up and operate the new facility in partnership with Consolidated Contractors Company and Munich Airport.
A consortium, comprised of Turkish TAV Airports Holding and Al Rajhi Holding Group, has won the contracts to operate the Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz Airport and Hail International Airport in Qassim as well as the Prince Abdul Mohsin bin Abdul Aziz Airport in Yanbu.
Al Hamdan has disclosed that these contracts are in line with the GACAs strategy to enlarge the contribution of private sector in airport projects and boost avenues for investments to ensure provisions for the finest passenger facilities at the levels of the global standards.
The Saudi Government has also awarded the contracts for the airports in Taif, Qassim, Yanbu and Hail, and these are founded on the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model.
These airports, once operational, will have a combined passenger handling capacity of more than 19 million per annum.
