Poland: Upcoming Tender To Feature ZE PAK Power Plant
Publish Date : 13-Jan-2010
According to Puls Biznesu, the last days of January are the most likely date of an announcement of a tender for a 50 percent stake in power plant Zespół Elektrowni Pątnów-Adamów-Konin (ZE PAK), which is owned by the State Treasury, as well as majority stakes in two lignite mines – in Konin and in Adamów, which currently fuels the plant.
According to a director from the Treasury, the state will be rather expecting investors to purchase all three companies and thus in the upcoming tender, in theory, it might be impossible to buy only ZE PAK. The Treasury is aware that privatization of the power plant, which is in operational control of Elektrim, will be complicated and thus initial offers might be expected even until the first half of March to enable investors more time to complete due diligence.
Potential large investors are rather cautious about openly expressing their interest in the potential purchase due to numerous changes in the privatization plans of the plant and mines over recent years, ecological regulations, and most of all the very complicated ownership structure of the company.
