United States - Virgin Atlantic Confirms Procurement of Ten Airbus A330

Virgin Atlantic Airways has procured six A330-300 long-range aircraft from Airbus, and is leasing a further four from AerCap.
According to a press release by the Airbus, the aircraft are Virgin Atlantic\'s first A330s which will strengthen services between the United Kingdom, North America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia, for both business and leisure markets.
\"The eco efficient A330s are adding immense operational flexibility to Virgin\'s modern fleet,\" said Steve Ridgway, Chief Executive, Virgin Atlantic Airways.
Virgin\'s A330A330-300s will seat up to 270 in Upper Class, Premium Economy and Economy, and will be the launch aircraft for revolutionary on board cabin innovations in every class, as reported in the release.
The contract was formally completed on 30th December, 2009.
The A330-300 is the largest member of the twin-engine A330 series, with a maximum takeoff weight of 275 metric tonnes (606,300 lb.).
