Japan,United States : Japan Airlines announces codeshare deal with JetBlue Airways
Publish Date : 23-Apr-2012
Japan Airlines (JAL) has expanded its existing interline deal with JetBlue Airways into a codeshare deal.
As per the codeshare deal, from April 22, Japan Airlines will place its ‘JL’ flight code on select JetBlue Airways-operated flights which connect New York and Boston with 21 destinations in US. JAL’s sales and reservations for the codeshare flights will start on April 18. With this, customers will easily be able to connect between JAL’s daily Tokyo Narita service and U.S. domestic cities including New Orleans; Portland, Maine; Rochester and Syracuse in New York State; and Washington Dulles International Airport, via JetBlue’s home base at New York JFK.
At Boston Logan International Airport, the customers can transfer between JAL’s new non-stop flights to and from Tokyo Narita and U.S. destinations including Buffalo, New York; Baltimore; Fort Lauderdale, and Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and West Palm Beach in Florida.
The new codeshare flights will concur with JAL’s new Tokyo Narita-Boston route with Boeing 787-8 on April 22. With American and JetBlue, JAL will provide a more complete network on the densely populated East Coast of US.
Scott Laurence, VP of network planning and partnerships at JetBlue Airways, said, \"In addition to our New York and Los Angeles offerings, customers in New England can now conveniently connect in Boston, where we are the largest airline, for direct service to Asia just in time for summer. Japan Airline\'s partnership with JetBlue will introduce a new stream of travelers to our airline\'s brand, our people, and our award-winning service.\"
