India : World Bank provides Rs.32 crore for a rural electrification project in India

The World Bank has agreed to provide Rs.32 crore for a project of rural electrification at Sagar Island in the Sunderbans of the Indian state of West Bengal.
The project envisages a house to house power connection and its inauguration is held at Rudra Nagar in Sagar Island. 42 gram panchayats will be electrified under the project.
Manish Gupta, the State Power Minister will hand over consumer cards to 45 households of the area at the inauguration.
The entire project will reach completion during the coming three years in which around 2 lakh 50 thousand people will profit from the program.
