Canada : Government of Canada awards contract to replace the exterior of Les Terrasses de la Chaudire complex

Publish Date : 17-Apr-2019

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) is committed to providing a safe and modern workplace for federal employees, occupants, tenants and visitors of the Les Terrasses de la Chaudire (LTDLC) complex.

Today, Steven MacKinnon, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Accessibility, the Honourable Carla Qualtrough, announced the awarding of a contract to PCL Constructors Eastern Inc. for construction management services to replace the exterior of the LTDLC complex. The complex is located at 10 Wellington Street, 15/25 Eddy Street and 1 Promenade du Portage.

This major project consists of replacing the roofs, the exterior brick wall assembly and the windows of the complex. This work will transform LTDLC into an energy-efficient and modern complex. Once the work is completed, the complex will have a predominantly glass and aluminum faade with wood elements on the inside of the windows, positively enhancing the aesthetic of the neighbourhood.

Overhead protection at street level will be removed, and the inner courtyard will reopen once the project is completed. This work will end the need for regular maintenance work on the exterior of the complex.

Construction is expected to start in the fall of 2019 and will be completed by winter 2024. Federal departments and agencies as well as businesses located in the complex will remain operational during the replacement work. PSPC and its partners are working closely to minimize disruptions to the occupants of the complex.

Separate projects are also planned to renovate and rehabilitate the interior of the LTDLC complex to provide employees with a more functional, bright and modern workplace. Work includes the renovation of the workplace offices and the rehabilitation of the LTDLC parking garage, which will improve accessibility and site circulation.
