China : China launches together its 12th and 13th satellite under the Beidou system that aims to counter the GPS

China has launched with success two additional satellites for its planned Beidou global navigation and positioning network being brought up to counter the US Global Position System (GPS).
With the two, the Far-East country has till now launched 13 satellites under the Beidou system.
The Beidou-2 satellites that was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the southwestern province of Sichuan, was given a boost by a Long March-3B carrier rocket and has entered the slated orbit.
China has for the first time launched two navigation satellites using one rocket, and the two satellites will help to enhance the accuracy of the Beidou, or Compass system.
