Syria Arab Republic : ICRC calls for USD 27 million for Syria

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has made an appeal to its donors for USD 27 million to support the work of helping the people who are suffering violence in Syria.
According to Jakob Kellenberger, the President of ICRC tens of thousands of men, women and kids are still having no shelter and the Red Cross is striving to bring them the help they urgently require by stepping up its emergency humanitarian response.
He stated that the priority of the committee was to enhance the living conditions and restore public services for nearly 1.5 million people affected by violence in the country.
Kellenberger added that the ICRC aimed to offer monthly food parcels to around 100,000 especially vulnerable people, and household needs for up to 25,000 people.
The ICRC has joined hands with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent to distribute food and other essential items to serve around 350,000 people in Syria, since July 2011.
