Norway : Babcock begins contract for Fixed Wing Air Ambulance Services in Norway

Publish Date : 08-Jul-2019

We are pleased to announce that our six-year Fixed Wing Air Ambulance Services in Norway contract began on 1 July 2019. The contract was awarded last year and has scope to extend beyond the initial contract period with options for a further five years. Our service will be operational 24/7/365 and operate from seven bases across Norway. We will be responsible for all fixed wing air ambulance operations in Norway, transporting around 9,000 patients per year. All medical personnel on board will be employed by Norways public health service.

When putting this contract out to tender, the Air Ambulance Services of Norway specified that a jet must be part of any solution. To fulfil this request, Babcock commissioned a bespoke Citation Latitude C680A jet from Textron, identifying a number of modifications that now makes our jet the most medically advanced fixed wing air ambulance in the world. This jet was displayed for the first time at EBACE (European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition) in Geneva at the end of May and has since also attended the Paris Air Show ahead of its debut in-service.

We are very excited to celebrate the start of this contract and look forward to working with our customer to deliver a world-class service to the patients we transport in Norway.
