Publish Date : 10-Jul-2019
A contract to oversee nearly 1,800 provincially owned, leased and managed buildings has been awarded to CBRE Ltd.
Under the five-year contract, the company will provide repairs, maintenance, landscaping, janitorial and construction services at government facilities, such as courthouses, warehouses, correctional centres and government office buildings throughout the province.
The contract is valued at about $190 million annually and was awarded through an open, fair and transparent bidding process. It has a five-year term beginning April 1, 2020, with two optional five-year renewals. The Province and CBRE are working closely to ensure continuous service for government properties.
CBRE Ltd. has about 480 offices worldwide, including its B.C.-based team that will provide employment opportunities for British Columbians.
The new agreement aligns with the B.C. Procurement Strategy as well as other key government priorities. The tender process considered factors such as environmental responsibility, best value for money, social benefits and impacts to people and businesses.
The Provinces new procurement strategy takes full advantage of governments buying power to drive economic growth in communities throughout B.C., create well-paying jobs and support sustainability and energy-efficient practices.
