India : KERALA GOVERNMENT to ink deal for power project with PETRONET LNG

The Kerala Government and Petronet LNG is set to ink an agreement for establishing a Rs 2,250-crore power unit - part of the LNG terminal at Puthuvype in Kochi. A decision in this regards was finalized during a high-level meeting held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy.
The 356 MW project will be a combined cycle gas turbine project.
According to Petronet officials, \'cold energy\' from the power plant would significantly add to energy security of the State.
Upon the acquisition of the required 50 acres of land, completion of the project is scheduled within 50 months.
Te spokesman said that a contract is to be signed followed by further rounds of discussions.
