The suppression of these level crossings will improve safety and comfort parameters, as well as travel times
The Board of Directors of Adif has approved the adjudication of the works for the suppression of two level crossings located in the municipality of Gomecello (Salamanca) and belonging to the conventional railroad line Medina del Campo-Salamanca.
The contract, awarded to the UTE (Temporary Union of Companies) formed by Levantina Ingeniera y Construccin, Viltas y Asfaltos Viclvaro, has a total budget of 5,748,380.28 euros (VAT included).
The suppression of these level crossings will improve safety and comfort parameters in the line, as well as travel times.
Solutions adopted
The level crossing located at kilometer point (pk) 63/912 will be suppressed by the execution of two new actions: the construction of a variant, which will eliminate the transit of heavy vehicles through the center of the town and will save the problems derived from restricted gauge, and the construction of a new overpass at pk 63/885, which will have three openings of 18.48 m each.
For its part, the elimination of the level crossing located at pk 64/552 will be solved by the construction of a new underpass for pedestrians and light vehicles. This new infrastructure will orthogonally cross the railroad and will have a total length of 257 m (including access ramps), a free width for 6 m vehicles and a 1.5 m wide sidewalk for pedestrian use.
