Bulgaria : 23 projects will receive funding from the 10th Session of the National Innovation Fund

23 are approved projects under the 10th Session of the National Innovation Fund / NIF /. They will be financed with a total of BGN 5.5 million and the contracts will be concluded by the end of the year, which will start the implementation of the projects. This became clear after the meeting of the Management Board of the Fund.

"In the 10th competitive session there is an improvement in the work of the Fund and the quality of the projects, said Deputy Minister of Economy Lilia Ivanova and added that without innovation, no sustainable growth in the Bulgarian economy can be expected."

The 23 nominated project proposals fall within the thematic areas of the Innovation Strategy for Intelligent Specialization (ISIS). 12 project proposals fall under the IT and ICT thematic area and 9 under the Mechatronics and Clean Technologies thematic area. The other projects are in the thematic areas "Healthy Life and Biotechnology" and "New Technologies in the Creative and Recreational Industries".

The ranking of approved projects is published on the website of the Executive Agency for Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (BSMEPA). The technical and economic evaluation of each project proposal was carried out in the period 10.09.2019 - 07.11.2019 by two external independent experts, for the purpose of the evaluation of the 10th competitive session and to ensure transparency and impartiality in the distribution of independent experts, BSMEPA has contracted to use the Random soft web application for "Random Choice Software".

The main objective of the National Innovation Fund is to promote research and development. The immediate objective of the Fund is to promote the implementation of R&D and technical feasibility projects for the absorption of new or improved products, processes or services aimed at enhancing economic efficiency, enhancing the innovative potential and technological level of enterprises, increasing private investments for them, enhancing the dynamics of innovation processes. The Fund aims to improve the market outcome for businesses and society, in terms of better prices for higher quality, increased production, reduced use of resources and increased investment in efficient enterprises.
